Her tenure as the head of public relations for the Departments of Transportation, Public Works, and Baltimore City Schools has honed her ability to bridge the gap between government-led construction initiatives and the very communities they impact.

In 2013, leveraging her years of insights and commitment, Vanessa founded Pyatt Group. Her leadership was instrumental in the opening of five pivotal affordable housing developments along Baltimore City’s North Avenue corridor. Vanessa didn't just stop there; she also spearheaded outreach for the Baltimore City Wet Weather Consent Decree. Demonstrating Pyatt Group's dedication to inclusivity and community growth, 2014 saw the firm launching the Baltimore City Department of Public Works’ first Small Business Training Program, an initiative designed to empower minority firms to actively compete for utility construction contracts.
